Welcome
Welcome to the Kingdom of Caid Newcomer Site where you will find information written for the Ladies and Lords who have recently joined the SCA, for those who may be considering joining, as well as those that would like to find out more about the Current Middle Ages within the Kingdom of Caid.
If you cannot find an answer to a particular question or would just like to know something about a particular SCA topic, send a note here to the Chatelaine who will make sure you get a complete and prompt answer.

The SCA
“The Society for Creative Anachronism (SCA) is an international non-profit volunteer educational organization. The SCA was started in 1978 and is devoted to the research and re-creation of pre-17th century skills, arts, combat, and culture. When getting involved with the SCA you will attend events, enjoy a feast and perhaps even learn how to prepare medieval food. Learning period dress, how to address people of different status and more is discussed. Remember to bring your family to enjoy the festivities and discover the role of teenagers in the SCA.
Participating in the world
Participants in the SCA develop a “persona” which represents an individual from the Middle Ages who might have existed (but not based on a real figure). For most SCA participants this means selecting a particular time and culture from the Middle Ages, building a name from documented historical records from that culture, and wearing clothing that someone from that culture would have worn. Visitors are welcome at events, and many resources are available to help you comfortably immerse yourself as a member of the Current Middle Ages.

Fighting Arts
Whether its Armored, Rapier, Youth, or Target Archery; learning to stab, move, swing a sword, throw knives or axes, there are plenty of martial forms to learn
Arts and Sciences
Want to learn how to make armor, brew, make garb, or do woodworking, leather working, or metalworking? Ever wonder why and how something was done in history? A&S is where you learn, create, and teach these skills
Atmosphere and Community
There are hundreds of people at any given event and thousands at camping events called WARS! Some have been playing for decades, some are just starting out. Meet new people, dress in garb, or learn a new skill
Local Events
Baronies and Shires have weekly local meetings, usually called fighter practices. These are places to get to know local members, even if you are not interested in fighting. They may also have monthly arts and sciences nights as well.
